AND HIS ADORING FANS WENT TO LISTEN…WHAT A SIGNIFICANT EVENT…ALMOST UP THERE WITH THE PARTING OF THE RED SEA.
It was not reported that any miracles were visible or were witnessed by those in attendance. The Washington Monument did not bend or fall, the pond retained its water and no, Beck did not walk on them as was predicted.
Fox News, one of Beck's broadcast outlets, says that "huge crowds at Glenn Beck's 'Restoring Honor' freedom rally — organized to give thanks to U.S. troops — left Washington, D.C., on Saturday night pleased by the theme and the turnout — as thousands in attendance returned home carrying a message of making America better."
Of course there were the big crowds, we have no doubt there were lots of people there, would not even question the veracity of the numbers. But one thing remains clear in my mind: If Beck and Palin and the other speakers did not resort to divisive, inflammatory rhetoric and those in attendance did not carry outlandishly insulting signs, there is not much hope for them because that is the very essence of that movement and that is the way of energizing the base…by being outrageous, insulting, untruthful and hypocritical…how long do you think that base will stand for bland, civil and orderly gatherings like that one?
