IGNORANT, RELIGIOUS FANATICS, RACISTS, HOMOPHOBIC, XENOPHOBIC, EASILY SCARED, UNEDUCATED, STUBBORN, UNPATRIOTIC, IGNORANT, OR ALL OF THE ABOVE…WHICH ONE ARE YOU?
At this time I can safely say that there are many, I mean many people, comprising of almost half of the voters in America who are Republicans. I can also safely say that I don’t quite understand it how they can cling on to an askew and perverse ideology after all our country has endured.
Suppose you are walking down a sidewalk, you are in a rush, you don’t look down because you are too preoccupied with getting somewhere on time…then you step on a lizard and squash it. You don’t even 
notice you thought you stepped on a twig and keep on going oblivious to what you did; perhaps that lizard was the last male of his species and now you are the factor responsible for the extinction of a whole species of animals.
The way I see it, Republicans are very similar to that person walking down the sidewalk, stepping on other people and squashing them into extinction. The haste and selfishness blinds them ignoring all other facts and what is going on around them. Never mind that their sick ideology causes a lot of damage to our country. Never mind that because of their askew and misguided philosophy the middle class is almost decimated. Never mind that the interests of the very wealthy are served by these ideologies and that the person walking down the sidewalk is but an instrument of those who are selfish and greedy.
Please don’t tell me that you are well informed if you only get your news from Fox. That is the last place you should be getting anything for they are not only biased but deliberately untruthful and acting only to defend the interests of the very wealthy and the corporations.
Please don’t tell me that you are interested in politics and that you follow the issues because you have a very short attention span and you are incapable of digesting any information save the one liners on bumper stickers.
So you are suspicious of well educated, well informed and progressive individuals. You would much rather listen to your preacher tell you what is right and what is wrong…it takes too much effort to think for yourself. This preacher will even tell you how to vote. You can’t waste your time in such things as politics because you are too busy pursuing the American dream which to you is going to Wal-Mart or to the mall and shopping till you drop. Conspicuous consumption is your goal, your main concern is your safety and your well-being, never mind that the rest are suffering and hungry, homeless and without health care. It is me, me, me…it is your way or the highway.
You get into your gas guzzling SUV and you really don’t care where you get your gasoline…you pay up the ass and the money goes to some Middle East Country that is our adversary while in the process also giving oil companies obscene profits. You want your politicians to apologize to the oil companies for oil spills they are responsible for creating in their quest for exploration and drilling...drill, baby drill.
You listen and believe the ads the Republicans are putting out…they are going to raise your taxes, “shit! Democrats are going to raise my taxes” you think; when in reality your taxes have actually decreased. The taxes that are going to go up are those of the very top income earners in our society, those very people who President Bush thinking 
our government was collecting too much money; decided to give them a tax cut which will expire at the end of 2010. Never mind that because of the loss of those revenues our country has had to borrow from the Chinese (besides the treasure spent on two stupid wars) and you are ok with that because the way they tell it to you is that “Obama is going to raise taxes” and we as a country get deeper into debt so that those in the 2% of wealthiest Americans can keep their houses in the Hamptons.
Because you are not interested in facts and you only want to hear things that would justify your selfishness; you believe that the President wasn’t born in America. You buy into all this demonizing and dehumanizing crap the right wing is spewing like how the President is a SOCIALIST and how there is a secret conspiracy to turn America into a tyranny or become part of a WORLD GOVERNMENT.
You resent people who are different than you…you distrust them, you think they are not Americans; you think that they are here to destroy your culture, THEY ARE TAKING AWAY YOUR AMERICA. Not realizing that you are the product of immigration yourself, that you are not superior or better because you were born on the north side of a body of water.
Conversely, because your religion has opted to only pick and choose from the Scriptures passages that condemn homosexuality and ignore all the others, you are filled with hatred and you are repulsed by homosexuals whom you consider inferior morally and you think that you have the right to discriminate and persecute them…after all, they 
deserve it for embracing this lifestyle. They have to be taught a lesson because God disapproves of them…or so you think. God does not disapprove of them because he would not have made them that way. Whatever you think, you are dead wrong in believing that you are superior because you insert a penisinto a vagina; that does not make you any better or ingratiate you in the eyes of our Creator.
Or perhaps you are one of many who bought into the Reagan demagoguery that told the American people that “government was the problem” and it couldn’t do anything right…Regan started with this premise and I often ask myself how can you even govern if you start with this premise. Reagan also put forth what Bush senior termed “voodoo economics” or what was then termed as “trickle down economics” which didn’t work then nor it will work now, not ever.
We found out differently, that Reagan didn’t walk the walk and did exactly the opposite of what he was prescribing: he grew the government, left us with trillions of dollars in debt and set us on a path of religious division by encouraging and empowering the religious right to seek power and try to establish a theocracy in America.
I would like to ask you…which one are you Mr. /Mrs. Republican? Are you any of these, some of these or most of them?
