Friday Flowers

This morning, whilst running very late for school drop off, I raced around my new old garden and cut some foliage for an arrangement I was wanting to create for the shop today. Here is the result above. The arrangement sits on a beautiful oval Antique table which actually just sold to one of my lovely clients this afternoon. I am loving big glass vases filled with masses of leaves at the moment. Luckily my garden seems to have the perfect plants for this type of arrangement.

It's been a while since I have posted some Friday Flowers. Mum arranged this foliage for me last weekend and in amongst our lovely old garden we found a passion fruit vine so we picked some and plonked them in another vase as above. I'm planning on a quiet weekend pottering around the new house. Hope you have a lovely weekend.

It's lovely when you receive a little bunch of unexpected flowers especially from your brother and especially hand picked from the garden. He obviously knows me very well to have thought to bring me these pretty pink flowers which are currently blooming on a tree in his front yard. They made my day.

Apparently these beautiful peonies, which our florist delivered to the shop this morning, are the first for the season. They look so pretty with our colourful cushions and our new orange ottoman!! Hope you have a great weekend.

Friday Pink Flowers

Here are some little pink garden roses I picked and placed in an old bottle. Today I am following the lead of Mrs Blandings by posting pink flowers as this week marks the beginning of October which is Breast Cancer awareness month. Here are some pretty Spring flowers I arranged late yesterday afternoon in mismatched vintage vases. I arranged them for Melanie {one of my Black & Spiro girls} and I placed them down the centre of the dining table last night at Pearl. We took Melanie out for dinner to celebrate her upcoming wedding which is in 3 weeks. Her favourite colour is Yellow, hence the mixture of yellow and white flowers.

Thank Goodness it's Friday! What a week it's been. Thank you so much for all of your generous comments this week about both my VL article and our new Black & Spiro website. It certainly has been a whirlwind week.

Today's Friday Flowers sit amongst some more new things we have in the shop. The cockatoo lamps are so much fun!!

{Nanette's} Friday Flowers

And just in case I didn't share enough of Nanette's beautiful work yesterday, I thought I would post these last two pretty flower arrangements she did. After seeing what she does with Banksia and gum nuts she has inspired me to find some Australian native flowers of my own this weekend!! Happy Friday and Happy Weekend!

I was very lucky to be given these pretty mottled roses from a friend today. I arranged them in a pretty yellow vase we have at Black & Spiro. I placed them next to our beautiful vintage lamp and shade {note the beautiful embroidery on the shade} on a table in the shop and then a very lucky young lady came into the shop with her mum and her sister and they took the lamp home for her bedroom. I am sad to see this beautiful one-off vintage lamp go but I know it will be loved and cherished by it's next owner...

Friday Flowers

It's been a quieter week for me this week which has been so lovely, I must say. A breather in amongst the craziness is sometimes all we need to give us a bit more energy to keep on going. I have had the chance to catch up on a few of my favourite blogs this week which has been so inspiring. One post I read by Vicki Archer on confidence really did it for me. If you haven't already read it I encourage you to do so. I have always struggled with self-confidence, like many women and it really is very inspiring what Vicki has to say on the matter.

Friday Flowers

Here are some pretty pale pink roses which I placed on the chest of drawers in our bedroom this morning. They look so pretty with my bedroom curtains and Harry's little love heart drawing he did for me a while ago. I am looking forward to the long weekend which will hopefully be full of sleep-ins, breakfasts with my boys, videos, snuggling, morning walks, cooking, magazine reading and of course cuddles with Ned. I'm not usually a huge fan of Carnations however, I do like this simple little posy I created this afternoon using some fresh white Carnations and a little Antique Cloisonne jar I picked up at the Antique Fair last night. I couldn't decide which spot to put them in so I took a photo of both little spots. The colours of the little jar look so pretty with my vintage bird however, I ended up popping the little arrangement on my bedside table on a stack of books in front of a little drawing of Harry's I recently had framed.
