AN ILLUSTRATED BIBLE – YOU’RE KIDDING, RIGHT?

Give the illiterate what they want: a comic book style bible with pictures

As if the Scriptures were not fabricated enough and conjure up images of a wrathful God and all the outlandish fairy tales that are contained therein…they now have to add more imagery, more glitz, more superstition reinforcement by illustrating the Bible…or are they doing it to be able to sell it to these ignorant and illiterate people who really can’t read anything more advanced than a comic book?

The offer came in an e-mail and it says:

“The Almighty Bible: Genesis is a vividly illustrated, biblically faithful depiction of the amazing first book of the Bible. It includes The Garden of Eden, the Tower of Babel, Noah’s Ark, and other classic stories. Written and designed to appeal to all ages, this book is something young children can pick up and enjoy immediately. The inspirational words of the Bible are something the whole family can enjoy.”

Notice the use of the words Almighty (caps?) also vividly, faithful and inspirational…the only thing that inspired me to do when I saw this was to vomit.

Lastly; “IT IS GOOD FOR CHILDREN” – By all means, get them while they are young and impressionable, instill in them fear and superstition, brainwash them and they will be good followers and never will they be able to question or think for themselves.

THE END OF THE WORLD…REALLY?

I am going to have to use profanity to drive home the point: You Evangelicals don’t know what the fuck you are talking about.

Your obsession with “Revelations” is not only absurd but also very destructive. What you are doing to your followers is to scare the shit out of them so that they become your followers, your slaves. But make no mistake about it…the whole crap about “REVELATIONS” is a fictional doomsday scenario that imagines a very mean, wrathful God destroying what he supposedly created.

I don’t know about you but I can’t imagine such a God nor can I imagine buying what these people are selling. Unequivocally these Evangelical-Fundamentalists actually want the end of times to come; Armageddon, the whole ball of wax. They actually rejoice when they hear of a catastrophe or some crisis…because in their world that is an indication of the proximity to Armageddon.

Please don’t tell me that it is not the case because I have met Evangelicals, tons of them and each and everyone had that doomsday crap in common. I even watched firsthand the reaction of a neighbor of mine who happened to be visiting my mother the moment the plane hit the second tower on 9/11. I can tell you that her demeanor was jubilant; her smile was eerie and there was a sense of gloating and she immediately commented: “that is an indication that the end of times has begun”

I don’t know about you but I think that a religion like that is pretty fucked up. I mean, to actually rejoice when thousands of people are killed…with the culmination of the entire human race being wiped out. Do these people realize that their validation carries such a drastic and evil purpose? They are misguided into believing that they alone will survive it…they will be looked upon by that wrathful God with kindness and will rescue them just because they have these weird and far out ideas?

It is a very sorry day when people live their whole lives just looking forward to their demise and the obliteration of the human race. That in my book is totally, perversely FUCKED UP. And for those who are the spokespersons and are benefiting from these scare tactics…SHAME ON YOU…you might scare people into buying some gold…but that gold will be totally worthless when there is nobody to buy it.

You hear it every day, frequently and they are very alarming ads. “Buy gold now, protect your wealth, it is an investment that will keep your future safe” and so on; they tell you to be scared. It is almost always followed by some motivation of urgency, the world is coming to an end and you will be holding gold, it will save you from ruin and despair…etc. It will even help you get through THE RAPTURE.

I couldn’t agree with this at all because gold is as high as you could possibly buy it now. To buy something when it is high is insane. You are constantly told to buy low and sell high, so why should gold be any different?

But that is not the only intricacy of this transaction. What really happens is that you are overwhelmed by all kinds of service charges and costs that are not apparent when you do decide to turn some of your cash into gold. Good luck if you try to convert some of your investments into gold; you are in for the ride of your life. It has been pointed out by many including Rep. Anthony Weiner of NY (D) that in order to make the purchase of gold worthwhile would be if the price went up 200% and that is a practical impossibility.

If you don’t believe me how inflated the price of buying gold is then try to sell some on your own. What you can do is gather all your old rings, chains, damaged jewelry and any gold you have sitting around and send it to one of these companies that buy this stuff. Then divide the money you got by the weight and compare it to the price you pay when you buy as compared to when you sell.

Let Armageddon begin! Because according to the Jehovah’s Witness they are the only ones who will survive.

“Salvation Only For Jehovah's Witnesses

The Watchtower Society teaches that since Jehovah's Witnesses alone have God's backing and are the only ones that worship the true God, shortly they alone will survive Armageddon.

"Only Jehovah's Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the "great crowd," as a united organization under the protection of the Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil." Watchtower 1989 Sep. 1 p.19

"Similarly, Jehovah is using only one organization today to accomplish his will. To receive everlasting life in the earthly Paradise we must identify that organization and serve God as part of it." Watchtower 1983 Feb. 15 p.12

"Is it presumptuous of Jehovah's Witnesses to point out that they alone have God's backing? Actually, no more so than when the Israelites in Egypt claimed to have God's backing in spite of the Egyptians' belief, or when the first-century Christians claimed to have God's backing to the exclusion of Jewish religionists."
Watchtower 2001 June 1 p.16

"During the final period of the
ancient world that perished in the Flood, Noah was a faithful preacher of righteousness. (2 Peter 2:5) In these last days of the present system of things, Jehovahs people are making known Gods righteous standards and are declaring good news about the possibility of surviving into the new world. (2 Peter 3:9-13) Just as Noah and his God-fearing family were preserved in the ark, survival of individuals today depends on their faith and their loyal association with the earthly part of Jehovahs universal organization." Watchtower 2006 May 15 p.22 "Are You Prepared for Survival?" Paragraph 8

The Watchtower goes as far as to state that there are billions in line for destruction.

"There are billions of people who do not know Jehovah. Many of them in ignorance practice things that God's Word shows to be wicked. If they persist in this course, they will be among those who perish during the great tribulation." Watchtower 1993 October 1 p.19 “

OF CATACLISMIC EVENTS, CATASTROPHES, CRISIS, PLAGUES AND PESTILENCE

The Evangelicals’ obsession with the Apocalypse – it is downright sadistic and not Christian

Evangelicals, you can gloat all you want but these have been happening for millions of years. Well, not the financial stuff anyhow. So, if you really think that the Japan earthquake and tsunami was God’s punishment; then please explain what is God’s displeasure with such nice, civil, polite and wonderful people. I mean, I can understand you saying it about New Orleans and Katrina…New Orleans being the most fun place in the US during Carnival and on any given day of the week. What I don’t understand is how you consider yourselves Christians and yet enjoy, actually enjoy with the sadistic satisfaction that you express anytime a disaster happens.

Please don’t tell me that this is not so; that these Evangelicals are really kind-hearted, compassionate people…they are not. I have firsthand experience where I have observed their behavior and how they gloat; how they somehow find validation for their askew ideology when watching human misery caused by some natural disaster. I even had a Jehovah’s Witness neighbor named Tina who was at my house and the television was on while the 9/11 attacks were televised. She had a smile on her face; she actually was savoring every word, every image brought joy to her face. That is one fucked up attitude.

Do you really think that the Creator would be approving and accepting of these people? Even if you think of God as an angry, wrathful one as opposed to a loving God…these people don’t have compassion, they are everything Jesus preached against and I might add…in my book they are very sorry excuses for human beings.

Alaska quake from another decade...

Here are some of the most devastating incidents of the past decade…as far as I remember; there were others of smaller magnitude or importance. If you think I should include others, let me know.

The Prophesied End-Time Revealed

The year 2008 marked the last of God’s warnings to mankind and the beginning in a countdown of the final three and one-half years of man’s self-rule that will end by May 27, 2012.

On December 14, 2008, the First Trumpet of the Seventh
Seal of the Book of Revelation sounded, which announced the beginning collapse of the economy of the United States and great destruction that will follow. The next three trumpets will result in the total collapse of the United States, and once the Fifth Trumpet sounds the world will be thrust into WW III.

The Seven Trumpets of the Seventh Seal, as well as the Seven Thunders of the Book of Revelation (which the apostle John saw but was restricted from recording) are revealed in this book.

Many of the prophecies of the Seven Thunders are being fulfilled and will continue to increase in strength and
frequency throughout this final three and one-half years of man's self-rule on earth.

All this mumble-jumble, all these fabricated prophecies and garbage that makes a person scream with displeasure when uttered by these religious fanatics. They are all meant to scare us into accepting their fanaticism, to make us convert to their religions and buy into their crap.

Do you know who I think “ENEMY #1 is? It is Evangelicals, Fundamentalist Christians, Jehovah’s Witness, Mormons and all the others who are the PROPHETS OF DOOM. These assholes would actually like to see all these tragedies happen…fuck the world and mankind in it as long as they are proven right, as long as that garbage they have been spewing all these years turns out to be true…They would much rather be right and see the world come to an end than be proven wrong….hell, most of them actually are looking forward to Armageddon.

Homophobic religious fanatics - if there is a hell you are going there faster than gays would be.

The Creator doesn’t look kindly upon people who spew hatred and want to discriminate against others. Your sin is far more serious than you think. What makes you even consider that the Creator would look upon you favorably just because you insert a penis in a vagina and make life miserable, humiliate and force a group of people to second class citizens? That just doesn’t cut it in the eyes of the Creator.

You are hereby put on notice: if there is a hell you are going there faster than gays would be.

Religious homophobes want this for America!

Your religions are fabricated and false, your interpretations of the Scriptures are erroneous and you have no right whatsoever to make the government accept your ideology. Ours is a secular nation contrary to what you believe and a THEOCRACY is not what our Founding Fathers intended for their country.

There are even some religions, Christians to be exact that not only disagree with your homophobia but are performing marriage ceremonies for people of the same sex.

Religious extremists are pissed because they can no longer humiliate gay people. We are proud, we don't buy what they are selling so these homophobic religious fanatics are attempting to scare us with this going to hell crap...they used to do the same with Blacks in the old South.

Eleanor Roosevelt said: "Nobody can humiliate you without your consent"

HEAVEN AND HELL

It is a concept fabricated by religions to subdue their followers

The reason I am doing this post is because I received a very misguided comment from someone who does not even have the balls to have a profile but signed it “Rodney”

I had written a post May 17, 2010 named “WHY DON’T WE TURN THE TABLES AROUND?” Pointing out how it felt to be discriminated on the basis of your sexual orientation and how religions will deny you the rights everyone else enjoys thus making gays second class citizens

That was way back in May and today I get a comment from Rodney and this is what he had to say:

Rodney has left a new comment on your post "WHY DON’T WE TURN THE TABLE AROUND?":

“completely wrong!!!!!!!!!!! Marriage is for man and woman only!!!!! GAY PEOPLE WILL GO TO HELL! READ ROMANS 1 in your Bible.”

First of all, the concept of heaven and hell is a little too difficult for me to even contemplate let alone accept. I do believe that it is something religions fabricated in order to make their followers be submissive and obedient, to behave well and to be able to be governed.

You are basically telling me that my love for someone is not as worthy as yours

Second, I don’t think the Bible or any of the Scriptures are HOLLY; in other words, they are not the word of God or the Creator whatever you want to call it. The Scriptures were written by men and they were not very enlightened in those days nor was the idea of procreation not to be promoted since the world population was very small in those days and one lousy plague could have wiped out the whole human race.

The Scriptures were written from tales and historical accounts that were told from father to son before there was written language. As one might expect the next narrator would attach his own interpretations and embellish it some more. By the time it made it to the written Scriptures it was nothing like what the elders had in mind to pass along as a form of wisdom and a guide to fairness and civilized behavior.

Enter the Church and they picked and threw out a lot of it in more recent times. The early Church for example did perform SAME SEX MARRIAGES although nobody talks about it and they will refute it and ask you to prove it. I couldn’t prove it any more than these religious fanatics could prove the existence of heaven or hell…because these are based on FAITH and it has nothing to do with either historical, scientific or common sense…FAITH is a feeling, a belief albeit it might be erroneous, it is held dear as one of the convictions most passionately defended.

So, Rodney, your faith means nothing to me, nor do your Romans 1 and I am not going to tolerate for you to get a secular government to put their seal of approval on your desire to discriminate and make laws that take away my rights. Furthermore, HELL means even less for me since I am not really looking forward to going to some place after my demise where I can find the likes of Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and yes, YOU.

If you need the threat of hell to behave well, if you only act in a civilized and reasonable manner because you want to go to HEAVEN then basically you are not really a good person. You should be able to be good because it is in your nature and because you want to be not because of fear or because somebody who wants your tithing tells you that is the way it is.

I suspect Rodney you are a Mormon because this posting was in between some of the “DEBUNKING MORMONISM” posts I made back in May 2010. If that is the case, I suggest that your church will eventually realize that gays have a lot of income and by some miraculous “vision” one of your church elders will have a revelation that gays are to be accepted just the way you did in the 70’s with blacks.

Noah and his ark may very well have validity

It is entirely within the realm of possibility that Noah and his ark were part of a historical account of a cataclysmic flood.

Suppose we imagine the Black Sea ten thousand years ago. At the time the water levels of the earth were much lower and the Black Sea was but a large lake about one tenth the size of the present day Black Sea. The lake provided sustenance to a great number of people; it was rich with fish and also facilitated commerce by boat merchants. As time went by settlements on the lakeside grew and the lake was able to support a large population.

But at the end of the last ice age, when all the snows and glaciers began to melt; water levels world-wide began to rise. For the most part the lake of our concern had not evaporated fast enough; the rains kept coming more copious every year and the people on its shores saw themselves being displaced by the rising waters.

Enter Noah; a cantankerous old man who lived on the shores of Lake Black Sea and had a prosperous farm with animals of all kinds…he was a true lover of the diversity of fauna. But one day he began to notice the water in the lake was rising…he did every year and came to the conclusion that the lake would rise enough in the next couple of years to make his farm waterfront property.

But Noah also made one yearly pilgrimage to a place in the vicinity of what is present day Istanbul. Noah would go there to trade and purchase luxury items which he brought back and sold at a profit to the locals around the lake.

Noah was a very intelligent and observant fellow. He noticed that the journey from his homestead was almost all uphill and upon reaching his destination by the shores of the Mediterranean, year after year he noticed how the shoreline had changed and how it was possible for that same Mediterranean Sea to get even higher and spill over into the Black Sea Lake. Noah figured that the distance was rather small and that the place where his homestead was located would be underwater if this happened. He knew it because the man realized that it was several hundred feet lower than the Mediterranean and one tsunami would send Noah’s world crashing to a watery end.

Noah was so alarmed that upon his return he began building a craft of sizeable proportions. Everyone in the villages in the vicinity of Black Sea Lake thought he was crazy. Noah made one more trip to the trading center near Istanbul/Constantinople and noticed that this time the Mediterranean had actually risen a good ten feet and was encroaching properties and structures that had to be abandoned. Noah also noticed that the distance separating the Mediterranean and the Black Sea Lake of his had grown considerably shorter.

He kept building the ark and then it began: relentless rains and flooding. He wanted to keep his animals safe and dry so he placed them in his vessel. Noah did have pairs of some rare animals as well as the more normal domesticated kind. He marched them in there as the rains intensified and then there was a very powerful earthquake and he looked at the hills above his homestead and saw a waterfall…perhaps the size of Niagara and the thunderous noise it was making as well as the water it was bringing into Lake Black Sea.

Noah knew then that it was the Mediterranean spilling into the Black Sea Lake and that eventually both waters would take on the same level. But the whole ordeal took more than forty days and as his neighbors drowned or were driven up the mountains he gloated with pride that he had enough common sense to accurately predict a very natural phenomena.

Noah’s vessel was well built; it was impermeable to water and impregnable from the harsh elements…it floated like a piece of cork. But during the endless storm Noah noticed people drowning and came to their rescue…he was not heartless or devoid of compassion; he rescued more than two dozen people among which was one of his neighbors who criticized him and ridiculed him for building his craft.

Eventually the rains stopped…so far in the history of the world it hasn’t happened that it began to rain and it didn’t stop. The vessel came to rest on the shores of what is now the Black Sea and it just rotted there and some of the wood was used by Noah’s descendants to build houses.

If indeed there had been a Noah and an ark; the story would have been told from father to son until written language made its appearance; but by then, the account of Noah's adventure had been embellished and exaggerated to serve the purpose of religion to dupe and confuse its followers.

We must clarify one thing: Noah didn’t have any visitors from another dimension or was contacted by a messenger from God. Noah didn’t even practice the pagan religions of his time. The only thing that leaves me wondering is: If Noah saved a pair of all the species, why in the fuck did he put two rats, two cockroaches and two mosquitoes in his ark?
